Medical & Legal Disclaimer

BAC-CALC.COM produces theoretical mathematical estimates for educational and harm-reduction purposes only.

No Guarantee of Driving Capability or Legal Compliance

Never use this calculator or any theoretical tool to decide whether you or anyone else is able to operate a motor vehicle, watercraft, or heavy machinery.

Law enforcement agencies determine intoxication through chemical evidentiary testing (certified breathalyzers, evidentiary blood draws, or urine samples) and standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs). Even if an online tool estimates your BAC is below a statutory threshold (such as 0.08% or 0.05%), you can still be arrested and convicted for driving under the influence (DUI/DWI) if your driving is impaired.

Biological Limitations of Pharmacokinetic Models

Calculations produced by this website rely on population averages derived from Widmark (1932) and Watson et al. (1981). However, real human alcohol metabolism is affected by biological variables that no web calculator can know or measure:

  • Stomach contents: The composition (fat, protein, carbohydrates) and volume of food in your digestive tract dramatically alter the rate and extent of alcohol absorption.
  • Enzyme variations: Genetic polymorphisms in alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) create substantial variation in alcohol clearance rates.
  • Medications & health: Liver health, hydration status, hormonal fluctuations, fatigue, and prescription medications can substantially alter metabolism.
  • Pouring inaccuracies: Commercial drinks, home cocktails, and craft beers often contain higher alcohol by volume (ABV) or larger volumes than standard recipe sizes.
